cruise at 1500 hrs from Aberdeen Jetty by a motor launch. It is a pleasant
experience to a tourist. With Port Blair town on one side and the stretch of
Mr. Harriet with lush green forests on the other side, the cruise offers a

Island, a tiny but beautiful island about 1 km from Haddo wharf. Viper
Island stands as a mute witness to the grim suffering that the freedom
fighters of India had to undergo during the British rule. The island was
named after the vessel HMS Viper in which Lt. Archibald Blair came to these
islands in the year 1786. The vessel Viper is said to have been wrecked and
abandoned near the islands. There is yet another local story that the island
was full of Viper snakes, therefore named Viper Island.
